Britain has always been a nation of beer lovers, now more than ever it seems the hop is hip.
As a brand communications agency we have a penchant for telling food and drink stories and love a good pint, so we set out to discover more about Great British ale drinkers, what they like, and what the beer trade can do to keep them happy.
We asked fans of Box Steam Brewery (a recent client of ours) a lot of questions about how they choose beer, what inspires them, and where they buy it – a big ballot about beer.
We broke down the Big Beer Ballot into 4 parts, covering separate themes and invited friends and fans on social media to participate. We received nearly 1,400 responses, representing a decent spread across age, gender, geography and core preferences.
This ballot has been a unique opportunity to understand a bit more about what ‘new’ and ‘good’ might look like. Brewers might like to take a steer from the section on taste and flavour, and the trade as a whole should renew efforts to offer a choice of good beers alongside other beverages. Whatever the takeout from our research, one thing is clear – great beer has a great future.
